Laws
Law of Independent Assortment: genes for one trait are not inherited together with the genes for another trait
Law of Segregation: During the production of gametes, allele pairs randomly separate.

Linkage Groups
Linkage groups are groups of genes that are on the same loci so they tend to get inherited together and thus don't follow the normal law of independent assortment.
Linked genes don't follow the same rules of inheritance or the same phenotypic ratio as a dihybrid cross. Instead they will follow that of a monohyrbid cross because they are inherited together.
Linked genes can be distinguished from non linked genes because they produce fewer recombinant (new genetics that are different from parents) combos.
